Red Desert

"Red Desert" is a love song to the beautiful deserts of the Australian wilderness by indie-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. In celebration of recognizing nature's beauty and the bountiful culture ingrained in Australia, I designed this kinetic type to add a visual to this audible love letter.

To distinguish chorus from verses, two illustration styles were developed for the motion graphic. Both styles go for a textured approach, inspired by the textures found in the Australian deserts. The chorus features a full-color illustration style, while the verses have colored lines on black background style that emulates the native art that is integral to Australia's history and culture.
